Montblanc Writers Edition 2011 Carlo Collodi Rollerball

A little bit Off-Topic today. This post is about a remarkable writing instrument in my collection - the Montblanc Carlo Collodi rollerball.

Paying homage to the Italian author Carlo Collodi and his greatest work The Adventures of Pinocchio, Montblanc presents the Carlo Collodi Limited Writers Edition 2011 Rollerball. Collodi's masterpiece was published in 1883 and was inspired by the most enduring fictional character in children's literature. Each detail of the Writers Edition Carlo Collodi collection was carefully considered to reflect his epic masterpiece and the rollerball is an enchanted interpretation of Pinocchio's fairy tale world.

The barrel of each instrument is an impressive representation of Pinocchio's remarkable nose, made of dark brown precious resin complemented by a champagne-tone gold-plated cone. The extraordinary particulars are further developed by symbolizing the joints of the famous wooden puppet with a screw set that fastens the clip to the pen cap.

The skeletonized champagne-tone gold-plated cap includes artful depictions of the good fairy, the loyal cricket, the deceitful cat, the devious fox and the voracious whale. The tale is revealed as you spiral the cap of the pen showing the protagonist and his companions, giving this writing instrument a playful yet noble look. The ivory-colored Montblanc emblem and limited edition number on the cap emphasize the uniqueness of each pen. Finishing the enchanting interpretation is Collodi's engraved signature on the band.

The Carlo Collodi Rollerball is limited to 8400 pieces worldwide. The price is about 1000 USD.
